Large Trumpet Daffodil Marieke
N0108
Description
Perfect for sprinkling a welcome dose of spring sunshine onto garden borders and containers, ‘Marieke’ is an archetypal vivid yellow Daffodil, one of the hardiest varieties on the market, producing several cheerful, up-facing blooms per bulb.
Best grown in dramatic drifts to naturalise, the huge sunny flowers make an impact when they burst into life each spring, simply by themselves, or enhanced by contrasting delicate blue beauties such as Scilla or Muscari. Long-lasting with strong, sturdy stems ‘Marieke’ makes an excellent cut flower and will do well in virtually any position.
Care Guide
Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
