Fringed Tulip Pacific Pearl
T1466
Description
Rich merlot blooms of tulip ‘Pacific Pearl’ will add a dramatic touch to your late spring garden, blooming just as the spring symphony is starting to fade to bring depth and colour to garden beds and containers.
The deep antique-red petals are delightfully fringed at the edges and flare outwards to produce a classic tulip silhouette. Grow where the blooms will be backlit by sunshine and their colours will burn brightly in the border.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
