May Flowering Tulip Slawa
T1715
Description
Triumph tulip ‘Slawa’ is an intriguing, exotic-looking flower for the late spring garden. Contrasting two-toned petals of Bordeaux red with a coppery-apricot trim open up gently in the May sunshine. The clashing colours meet with a feathered fuchsia streak, adding to the deliciously dramatic look.
Plant in deep containers and garden borders with complimentary tulips, spring bulbs, and dark foliage plants to enhance the striking colours.
A luxurious tulip for cutting which will be a sure talking point in floral displays.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
