Tulip Special Themed Collection 4
T2004
Description
Velvety, almost-black tulip ‘Paul Scherer’ is set off beautifully by his pretty fringed companion ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ in this artful collection. In fact, you could say this pair are a match made in heaven.
The soft pink and ivory colouring and feathered texture of ‘Huis Ten Bosch’ is amplified by RHS award-winning ‘Paul Scherer’s’ dark and moody looks, and simplified, classic tulip shape.
Both bloom in April to May and are excellent flowers for cutting and adding dynamic colour and interesting shape to late spring bouquets and arrangements.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
