Gloxinia Tigrina Red
M6273
Description
The brilliant blooms of ‘Tigrina Red’ bring a sense of retro fun and frivolity, adding a burst of colour to windowsills, table tops and conservatories. Resembling a stick of seaside rock, each petal is outlined in bright red, gradually fading to a lightly speckled, white centre.
Though petite, this exuberant plant commands attention. The bell-shaped flowers are held triumphantly upright in tightly packed clusters. Downy, verdant green foliage sets the bi-coloured blooms off to advantage, emphasising their decorative markings.
Position in bright, indirect sunlight and water regularly, and you will be rewarded with an abundant display for months on end.
Care Guide
Gloxinias are house plants which thrive in a conservatory or on a warm windowsill.
Plant the tubers with the hollow side facing up in pots of moisture retentive compost. Do not fully bury the tuber – leave the top exposed above soil level.
Place pots on a bed of pebbles or stones in a dish for humidity and water regularly from below to avoid rotting or damaging stems and leaves.
Feed every two weeks with high-phosphorus liquid plant food once buds appear in early summer.
The velvety, bell-shaped blooms in rich, vibrant hues will bring botanical charm to your indoor spaces.
