Description

Known as the Carnival Tulip, the exotic and fun striped tulip ‘Carnaval de Nice’ emerges from a bed of attractive variegated foliage during April and May.

The double, paeony-like blooms are sparkling white with ruby-red feathering.

Tulip ‘Carnaval de Nice’ has received high praise in the horticultural world thanks to eye-catching looks and excellent garden and cutting performance. This variety is the recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the RHS.

A stunning tulip for delightful spring pot displays, and for adding a swirl of raspberry-rippled ruffles to the border.

Care Guide

November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
