With sprays of starry, trumpet-shaped, violet-blue blooms held in delicate umbels, Triteleia ‘Queen Fabiola’ resemble miniature Agapanthus. The clusters of flowers are carried on long, wiry stems above grass-like basal leaves. Native to sunny California, these bulbs enjoy a warm, sheltered, free-draining environment, where they can bask in the sunlight. In the right conditions, Tritileia will happily naturalise into drifts of blue blooms. Combining wonderfully with grasses and herbaceous perennials, these versatile, airy flowers blend well with prairie planting schemes, rockeries, mixed borders, cottage gardens and modern designs alike. The slender stems make outstanding cut-flowers, lasting over a week in the vase.
