Tulip Species Mix
T1023
Description
Like a pick and mix of all your favourite sweeties, our ‘Species Mix’ is a specially chosen combination of elegant varieties to fill your garden with early colour. Comprising a careful selection of favourites, blooms will appear consecutively, overlapping in complimentary bright shades. These animated tulips open agreeably in the daylight and tuck themselves back into a bud at night. This assortment is the perfect, no-hassle solution to creating bold flushes of flowers in containers, rockeries, borders, and lawns. Species tulips are truly perennial and happy to naturalise: given room to roam, these will spread to form sweeping drifts of radiant colour.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
