Eremurus Ruiter Mix
M5324
Description
A magnificent mixture of orange, yellow, pink, and white, our Eremurus ‘Ruiter Mix’ is an exuberant, vibrant assortment. This collection brings a carnival of colour to your garden in high summer. Rocketing upwards, the vertical stems offer structural splendour amongst sunny borders. Each spire boasts a long flowering window, as the buds open gradually from the base. As the plump buds unfurl, they reveal densely packed, fine stamens, giving a fluffy appearance like a fox’s tail – hence the common name, ‘Foxtail Lily’. Bearing a bountiful supply of nectar, Eremurus are irresistible to bees and butterflies. This kaleidoscopic collection provides a ready-made bouquet for head-turning floral arrangements.
Care Guide
Grow aristocratic Eremurus in a sunny, well-drained site with light soil. Add a bed of sand to the planting hole if you garden on heavy soil.
Plant the tuberous, spider-like roots 8-10cm deep, spaced 30-60cm apart in the earth. Place in groups of 3 or 5 for impact.
Provide consistent watering, ensuring the soil remains moderately moist particularly during dry spells of weather and whilst the roots settle in.
Majestic, fuzzy spires of yellow, orange or pink will rise to impressive heights of 90-200cm in midsummer when the flowers bloom.
During winter, mulch the area around Foxtail lilies with leaf mould to enrich the soil and add protection against harsh weather.
