Lily Flowered Tulip Pretty Woman
T1774
Description
A classic lily-flowering tulip in cardinal-red, ‘Pretty Woman’ makes a dazzling appearance when the flowers bloom in May. The bold showy flowers flare outwards and are exceptionally long-lasting, both in the garden and in the vase.
Pair this tulip with berry shades and softer pinks or blues for an inviting spring display or mix up with sunset shades for a warm aesthetic as days begin to lengthen and the seasons change.
A slightly shorter lily-flowering tulip, perfect for planting in containers or near the front of the border.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
