Incarvillea Delavayi
M6421
Description
The exuberant flowers of Incarvillea ‘Delavayi’ are held in multi-headed clusters at the top of sturdy stems. Sizeable, mauve-pink petals flare outwards to reveal a golden heart.
Otherwise known as the ‘flowering fern’, Incarvillea features delicate fronds of foliage which provide an attractive backdrop to the trumpet-shaped blooms. Despite their tropical appearance, Incarvillea are native to the mountainous regions of China and are surprisingly hardy when grown on well-drained soil.
These petite gems are a wonderful, exotic addition to rock gardens, herbaceous borders, and containers. The strong stems also make lovely cut flowers for arranging into bud vases.
Care Guide
Can be grown in pots or planted directly into garden borders, thriving in a sunny location.
Plant the tubers upwards, with the thinner part just under the surface of your soil, 30cm apart.
Grows well in all soil types. We recommend adding organic matter such as leaf mould or compost to heavy clay soils prior to planting.
Water regularly, allowing the soil to dry out between watering.
May need lifting in colder regions and storing in a greenhouse or conservatory for the winter months.
