Description

Glide into spring on the sails of Jonquilla Narcissus ‘Sailboat’. With petals flying backwards as though swept on the breeze, this multi-headed narcissus proves robust even in the face of choppy spring weather. A funnel-shaped trumpet the colour of pale dawn sunshine stands proud of a translucent white perianth. The RHS has given this variety its highest seal of approval with an Award of Garden Merit as testament to its reliability. Cruising its way easily amongst borders, lawns, rockeries and containers, ‘Sailboat’ offers an invigorating scent, as revitalising as a brisk sea breeze.

Care Guide

Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
