Darwin Tulip Salmon Impression
T1566
Description
With petals of peach suffused with coral pink, overlaid with a shimmering mother-of-pearl sheen, ‘Salmon Impression’ has a soft, romantic air. This enchanting variety boasts super-sized flower heads which are held firmly on strong, lofty stems, resistant to British weather despite their delicate appearance. The beauteous blooms are long-lasting both in the garden and in the vase, making them equally fantastic as cut flowers to enjoy indoors. Blooming a little earlier than other Darwin Hybrids, this variety is likely to return for several years as a perennial bulb. ‘Salmon Impression’ is a first-class tulip to elevate your spring borders and container displays.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
