Description

Our new begonia ‘Pastel Mix’ brings a profusion of showy blooms in delicate, peachy shades to create a romantic colour scheme. Thriving in sun and part shade, begonias are vigorous and resilient, promising a spectacle that lasts all summer long.

Every plant will be laden with sumptuous flowers, each baring endless layers of plump petals. Rich, dark green foliage provides a fetching backdrop to the subtle palette of lemon chiffon, blush pink and apricot.

Whether gracing a border, hanging basket, or window box, the pendulous blooms will tumble over the sides of beds and containers, softening edges in a show of abundance.

Care Guide

Begonia tubers should be started in March or April, in a cold frame or greenhouse.

Choose a pot with a 20cm diameter and several holes in the bottom for drainage.  Fill it with rich, good quality compost, leaving a 5cm gap from the rim.  Plant your Begonia tuber with the hollow side uppermost, ensuring it sits 2.5cm below the soil surface.  Water consistently, keeping the soil evenly moist, but not waterlogged. Place the pot undercover, in a shaded area with temperatures around 18-24°C and shoots will soon start to appear.

Once the danger of frost has passed, usually around the beginning of June, Begonias can be planted out.

Begonias will reach a height of 30-45cm, boasting vibrant, showy blooms ideal for patio containers and hanging baskets.

In October, lift the tubers, remove faded foliage and store in a frost-free place, in dry compost or wood shavings.
