Description

Tulip ‘Antoinette’ transforms through sweet ice-cream shades of creamy vanilla, raspberry and peachy-pink as it matures, creating a fascinating visual effect, especially when planted in dense bright ribbons through spring borders.

This bouquet-flowering tulip produces stems of at least 4 full-sized blooms making this a valuable addition to the garden in May, adding bountiful beauty and colour before the summer flowers awake.

Known as the chameleon tulip, ‘Antoinette’ looks impressive filling a large container, either alone or paired with taller single tulips.

Care Guide

November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
