Description

Plant oxalis ‘Iron Cross’ to form a velvety carpet of lush green, shamrock-shaped foliage.  The leaves feature a central, dark maroon ‘cross’, which is how this charming oxalis earns its name.

The pretty, heart shaped leaves close up at night before opening each morning to receive sunlight.

Also known as the ‘Good Luck’ plant due to the clover-like foliage, this wonderful oxalis bears dainty trumpets of coral blooms on wiry stems throughout the summer and autumn months.

Excellent for growing in containers, and for planting near the front of a border as interesting groundcover.

Quantity 50 per collection.

Care Guide

Oxalis grows best in sun or part shade and are ideal plants for rockeries, containers and borders.  They can also be grown indoors in pots in colder regions.

Plant the bulbs in late spring into any well-drained soil, 5cm deep and 10-15cm apart.  Add a handful of slow-release fertiliser to the soil or compost if you are growing in pots.

Provide regular watering to keep the soil evenly moist.

Dainty flowers appear any time between April and November above the clover-like leaves.

In very cold regions, the bulbs should be lifted and stored in a frost-free place for winter.
