Liatris Collection
M8033
Description
Aptly called ‘Gayfeather’ for its towers of fluffy blooms, liatris lends a soft, textural, vertical accent to your garden. This fantastic collection combines 5 of the white, goose-down variety ‘Floristan Alba’, and 5 of the marvellous mauve ‘Spicata’. Ideal for weaving amongst borders and containers, the spectacular flower spikes will punctuate your planting schemes like exclamation marks.
The hundreds of miniature flowers offer an irresistible nectar buffet for bees and butterflies. Flowering from July to September, the tactile blooms also make unique, long-lasting additions to floral arrangements.
This North American native is an exceptionally hardy and drought resistant perennial.
Care Guide
Liatris can be grown in any moderately fertile, well-drained soil.
A position in full sun is best for these fully hardy, prairie-native perennials.
After the frosts in spring, plant corms 5cm deep, spaced 45cm apart in the soil.
Unusual bottlebrush spires of white or pink bloom from July to September. Excellent as cut flowers.
Overly rich soil may cause floppy, tall stems, so avoid feeding or overwatering your Liatris which can also lead to rotting. Water immediately after planting and only during dry spells of weather.
