Ruffled Gladioli Nablus
G1001
Description
Gladioli ‘Nablus’ flaunts flowers of a rich, imperial purple like the wrapper of a Dairy Milk bar, with splashes of milky white at the throat. The generous blooms sport wavy, ruffled petals, adding extra curvaceousness to their form. Borne on sturdy stems of up to 90cm, this robust variety makes a wonderful addition to container displays and herbaceous borders. Gladioli are a florists’ favourite, and ‘Nablus’ is highly valued for arrangements thanks to its intense colour and elegant height. To prolong the flowering window, we recommend staggering plantings every two weeks throughout spring, and you will be rewarded by graceful blooms from July to September.
Care Guide
To cultivate Gladioli, choose a sunny site with well-drained, well-manured garden soil. Dig a trench 15cm deep and place the corms 10-15cm apart, covering with soil and ensuring they sit 5cm below the surface. Water regularly, maintaining soil moisture until growth is established, and during hot, dry spells of weather. Stagger planting at two-week intervals to ensure continuous flowering over a long period. Expect stately, colourful spikes reaching 60-90cm in height which many require staking for support. The smaller variety ‘Glamini’ Gladioli will reach a maximum height of 50cm.
