Large Cupped Narcissi Sempre Avanti
N0166
Description
Translating as ‘always ahead’ or ‘always forward’ from Italian, the ‘Sempre Avanti’ Daffodil is perhaps named as such due to its strong, forward-facing blooms. The spectacular large flowers remain in perfect condition throughout their long flowering period during March and April and are one of the best cultivars for naturalising.
Popular since Victorian times, Narcissus ‘Sempre Avanti’ features gently undulating alabaster petals, tinted creamy-yellow where they meet to surround a fluted rich-orange cup.
Care Guide
Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
