Gladioli Large Flowered Mix
G4512
Description
Towering stems of gladioli make the most glorious garden and cut flowers for late summer. A gifted bunch, or large vase full of these colourful, ruffled spires cannot fail to raise a smile.
This collection contains a well-balanced mix of large, top-class corms in a rainbow of bold colours. Plant out in spring, at weekly intervals for a long succession of blooms.
Gladioli thrive in well-drained soil, rich in organic matter, in an area which receives full sun. Once foliage has faded in autumn, lift the corms and store in a place free from frost, ready to re-plant the following spring.
Care Guide
To cultivate Gladioli, choose a sunny site with well-drained, well-manured garden soil. Dig a trench 15cm deep and place the corms 10-15cm apart, covering with soil and ensuring they sit 5cm below the surface. Water regularly, maintaining soil moisture until growth is established, and during hot, dry spells of weather. Stagger planting at two-week intervals to ensure continuous flowering over a long period. Expect stately, colourful spikes reaching 60-90cm in height which many require staking for support. The smaller variety ‘Glamini’ Gladioli will reach a maximum height of 50cm.
