“The Flowers Which Greet You with Fresh Blooms Every Morning - And Never Ask for Much”
Like me, you will have noticed how some plants instantly lift your mood. This same feeling hits me every time I see Hemerocallis (Daylilies) in their full glory. Each bloom is like a daily celebration - pure, honest joy, straight from the soil. By midsummer, your borders are alive with colour – violet-mauve, deep burgundy, velvety pink, wine red and gold - all swaying gently in the summer breeze. Of course, we all know the wonder of Hemerocallis is that each bloom lives for a single day, yet the display never pauses. Fresh new flowers open each morning. A natural version of daily renewal.
Our premium Hemerocallis are some of our most expensive plants, however, due to some luck with our Dutch grower and whilst stocks last, de Jager can offer you these at a special one-off low price.

Hemerocallis ‘Bogeyman’
‘Bogeyman’ brings dramatic sophisticated flair with its deep, inky blooms with a gold centre. This unusual contrast gives borders a moody, modern edge. Excellent for pairing with grasses and as contrast to lighter-toned perennials as this variety turns heads and invites closer inspection. A must-have for planting with a touch of theatre.
Planting our top-sized bare root daylilies means more than just adding flowers, your garden gains an early lead before the season even unfolds. These roots settle in quickly, grow with real strength, and without any time trapped in containers, there’s no binding, no delay. Growth begins the moment they touch the ground. Our Dutch grown roots grow longer and mature more fully. More stems. More flowers. More moments of joy, right from year one.
Some plants ask for attention. Hemerocallis, give you wonder and an endless flow of beautiful flowers. Reliable, radiant, and quietly spectacular, they turn everyday borders into a daily delight. Plant them once, and every year they will return like old friends - cheerful, unfussy, and always showing up when you need a little beauty the most.
Care Guide
Hemerocallis thrive in a sunny, well-drained spot, woven between perennials and shrubs for added summer colour.
Plant roots with the crown just under the soil surface, 30-40cm apart in fertile soil, between November and March.
Provide regular watering, ensuring the soil stays consistently moist until established.
Little care is required for these rewarding perennials which can remain undisturbed for years in the garden.
Divide clumps every few years to re-invigorate plants.
Smaller varieties can be grown in large pots of multi-purpose compost with added manure.
