Description

An intensely scented and long-stemmed Daffodil which is often grown for cutting, thanks to its pretty ruffled, multi-headed blooms.

Strong, thick stems mean that Narcissus ‘Sir Winston Churchill’ stays aloft in the border, even on windy spring days and has been granted a prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the RHS thanks to its reliable garden performance and desirable looks.

Ivory petals bear flashes of gold and open up in layers to reveal the neat, fully double flowers in April.

Plant in large groups and swathes through the border for the most impact.

Care Guide

Plant Daffodil and Narcissi bulbs in autumn, ideally in mid September to early October to enable roots to establish before a period of cold in winter. A position in full sun or light shade is best and good drainage is essential. Daffodils and Narcissi are long lasting and naturalise well, providing a welcoming display every spring. Ideal for borders, containers, rock gardens and open grass. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep and apart, depending on variety. A good rule of thumb is to plant bulbs 2-3 times their depth. Flowers appear in March and April and should be deadheaded once faded. The foliage should be left to turn yellow and fade naturally on the plant as this helps to feed the bulbs for next year’s blooms.
