Description

With impeccable white, peony-shaped blooms enveloped by slender, green-streaked sepals, ‘Exotic Emperor’ is the ultimate in regal elegance. Arriving early in the season, the crisp, pure petals encapsulate the freshness of spring. Large flower heads are borne on elongated stems with majestic splendour. This variety boasts exceptionally long-lasting blooms, both in the garden and in the vase for an enduring, chic floral display. Nestle the sizeable bulbs in prominently positioned containers to enjoy them for weeks on end. Planted in borders or amongst grass, ‘Exotic Emperor’ makes an excellent perennial tulip to relish for many years to come.

Care Guide

November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
