Description

With gorgeously marbled, silken petals, ‘Flaming Purissima’ is flushed with pink markings of varying intensity, from deep raspberry through to pale apple blossom. This variety features all the qualities of its award-winning forebear ‘Purissima’, such as sizeable, perfectly formed blooms and elongated stems, with the additional advantage of intricately patterned petals. The irregular feathering means that no two flowers are the same, resulting in an extraordinary display when planted in swathes amongst borders and when grouped closely in containers. These exquisite tulips make superb cut flowers and are an enchanting addition to any bouquet or floral arrangement.

Care Guide

November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
