Darwin Tulip Daydream
T1563
Description
Gaze wistfully upon the mesmerising blooms of ‘Daydream’ and you will feel transported to a world of delight. Plump buds emerge lemon yellow, gradually unfurling and transforming to apricot orange. The sizeable flower heads are held upright on strong, elegant stems, perfect for snipping to fill vases around your home and to give as gift bouquets to friends. These wondrous tulips are spectacular when planted en-masse amongst borders and in large container displays. This Darwin Hybrid is a reliable perennial bulb and has earned an esteemed RHS Award of Garden Merit for its excellent performance and vigour.
Care Guide
November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
