Description

The beguiling blooms of ‘Ollioules’ begin rose-pink and fade to silvered ivory edges as they mature. The ombre-effect petals match the soft pinks of cherry and apple blossom which emerge around the same time. Create a gorgeous, delicate display by planting these bulbs in drifts amongst borders and grouping them within containers. One of the best varieties for floral arrangements and bouquets, this Darwin Hybrid boasts long, graceful stems and enormous, eye-catching flower heads. Never failing to perform, ‘Ollioules’ has been granted an RHS Award of Garden Merit. These versatile, robust tulips are classed as perennials, reappearing in abundance each season.

Care Guide

November is the optimum month for planting Tulip bulbs. The cooler late-autumn temperatures help to keep disease at bay, whilst still allowing time for your bulbs to put roots down before spring. Any well-drained, fertile soil is perfect for Tulips, ideally in full sun or part shade. Plant the bulbs 10-20cm deep, spaced 10-20cm apart. A piece of chicken wire or mesh can be placed on top of the soil or pots after planting if squirrels or rodents are a problem in your area. After flowering in March to May, remove withered stems, foliage and any fallen petals to promote good plant health and apply a top dressing of high-potash fertiliser in late winter.
